What Our Families Say in Their Own Words

A grateful mother’s words of thanks

“A virus went to Liliana’s heart and she became very, very sick. As parents, we were not prepared for the news we heard on that very first night (in the hospital) when they told us that she might not make it. We stayed at the Ronald McDonald House for 9 nights. Staying at the House was a blessing. We could stay by her side all day, come back and eat, and have a beautiful and comfortable place to stay. Thankfully, Liliana improved and we were able to come home. We are forever grateful.”
— Kristy, mother of Liliana

Mourning a loss

“My wife, Tracie and I would like to thank you for your support this past July. We were guests in your House when our son Jacob was taken to the neonatal intensive care unit. While we wish our stay with you was under different circumstances and had a better end result we want to thank you for your kindness and care during this very difficult time. Our son Jacob did not make it in this world. His stay was brief but we will never ever forget him as his arrival taught us a love we have never known before. We are grateful as his presence brought us in touch with some terrific people, including everyone at your House. Thank you again for helping make a terrible situation much easier on us and subsequently easier on our son.”
— Marcus, father of Jacob

Words of wisdom from a RMH veteran parent

“Be ready to bond with others who are going through the same experience. It’s OK to open up to strangers. Form an emotional connection and friendship with the other families at the House.”
— Melanie, Ronald McDonald House veteran parent

A warm and welcoming atmosphere

“The time spent at the Ronald McDonald House has definitely helped my family find a moment to stop and settle down during all of the long hours spent at the hospital. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Thanks to the staff who made out stay comfortable no matter what hour of the day or night.”
— Vanessa, mother of Ethan
