Volunteer of the Month-Lee Henry
Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Month for November, Lee Henry! Lee comes to the Orange County Ronald McDonald House every Monday to write thank you cards and help with other things as needed. She has been a valued volunteer here since 1997. Lee's kindness, warmth, and support are so very much appreciated by staff, families, and visitors.
In Lee's own words:
My life with the Ronald McDonald House began in 1990 with the dream and hard work of building a Ronald McDonald House in Grand Rapids, Michigan. My oldest daughter and my son-in-law worked with love to raise funds, and to volunteer at many levels for the "Farm House." I never volunteered, however I visit it almost yearly and keep in touch with long time supporters. The Sun Room is dedicated to my granddaughter, Lee Ann.
I moved to California in 1962 and was not volunteering anyplace as work and family filled my days, However, in 1997 when I retired, I became a volunteer for the Golf Tournaments, along with my daughter and son-in-law, who is an avid golfer and a big supporter of the Orange County Ronald McDonald House. I did only the Golf Tournaments. I came into the House to do thank you notes and to help in any way I could in 2009. It has been a real joy and has given me a sense of the great love that the Ronald McDonald Family has here in dedicating their time, work and resources available in helping the many families of children with serious illnesses.
Volunteering and seeing the children's happy faces and the families enjoying an atmosphere of home is so rewarding. Many thanks for allowing me to be a tiny part of help at the House that Love Built.
